The BJP has once again borrowed Gen Z vocabulary to target the opposition.
The party's National Treasurer and Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday used terms such as "delulu" and "red flag" as he launched a tirade against Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and the Congress over the ongoing Delhi protests against CEC (Chief Election Commissioner) Gyanesh Kumar.
"Some youngsters call a bad omen a red flag. Rahul Gandhi is the biggest red flag, and he's the reason the Congress continues to lose elections," Goyal said in a press conference on Tuesday.
He accused the Congress of taking a hypocritical position on elections, calling the party "delulu".
"When they win, elections are fine; otherwise it is rigged. This is what our youngsters call 'delulu is the solulu'. Such is the mindset; they find a solution in delusion," Goyal said.
Furthering his argument, Goyal demanded the resignation of Congress chief ministers in Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana and Himachal Pradesh.
In recent times, the BJP has made repeated attempts to use Gen Z terms while appealing to the public. During the NEET paper leak controversy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi used 'friends' instead of his trademark, 'mitron', in video messages.
BJP MPs Bansuri Swaraj and Tejasvi Surya used terms like 'clock it', 'FOMO' and 'delulu' in the Parliament.
The ongoing Delhi protests led by the youthful members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and various student organisations have pushed the BJP-led NDA government onto the backfoot.
The NEET paper leak protests had forced the Union Government to remove Dharmendra Pradhan as Education Minister. The major demand of the ongoing youth protests is the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar and the roll back of the controversial Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
